About

I’m Kurt Selden, a business intelligence and data analyst. I take a question, find the public data that can answer it, and build the charts and reports that make the answer clear.

I’ve done that work inside large companies, including AT&T and MetLife, and for consultancies and smaller firms: call-center analytics, B2B sales, product launches and promotions. My everyday tools are Power BI, Excel and SQL, with Python when the job calls for it. I also hold an MBA.

I designed a civic database that brings together public data about American places: census, business, health and more. The data stories on this site come from it and from other public sources, and each one shows its sources, its method, its checks and its limits.

Before analytics took over, I helped ship two video games, Hubie and Ancient Galaxy. Game design taught me the habit I still use: build a model, test it, and change it when the evidence says so.

What I’m looking for

A BI or data analyst role where clear answers matter. The fastest way to reach me is LinkedIn.
